JENNY LUNA

Piano

Jenny was born and raised in South Texas, and has been living in Santa Fe, NM for 3 years now where she attended the College of Santa Fe and graduated with a B.A. in Music.  Although she dabbles in various instruments, her two main instruments are piano and voice.  Jenny has been playing piano since she was six years old, studying classical music extensively for the majority of her piano playing years, but recently breaking out into other genres, specifically jazz.  She played keys in a group that played a variety of music ranging from jazz, to rock, to Balkan music for about one year.  She is also well studied in music theory and will use this knowledge to better help students learn the piano

When it comes to voice, Jenny has been singing since she was a child.  She won several competitions concerning classical voice pieces in high school, and continued on to study the voice in college.  Jenny can sing many different styles of music including, jazz, classical, rock, r&b, funk, and Balkan/Middle Eastern music.  She can sing in over 10 different languages.  In teaching, her focus with students will obviously depend on the style of music they are wanting to study.  In certain styles of music, vocal improvisation is a strong suit to have, and she can help students learn how to tastefully improvise within a song.

Jenny currently performs regularly with Rusalki, a group that sings music from Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean, and also with Soulstice, a band that performs various events around town and ranges in a wide variety of music.
